Nerd Lacquer Don't Blink

Saturday, June 30, 2012
Thanks to Nichole at Adventures of the Nailfriends, I am now the ecstatic owner of Nerd Lacquer Don't Blink. Let me tell you something: I will NEVER take this polish off. I am so in love!

Here is an outdoor pic. <3

Sadly, Nerd Lacquer is no longer available as of now. Hopefully all is well with the maker.

piCture pOlish Monroe

Friday, June 29, 2012
Have I told you all how much I love the nail polish community?! Lisa over at Cosmetic Sanctuary sent me Monroe a few days ago. OMG! This was one of my biggest lemmings. I am so grateful for her generosity! <3

WARNING! Pic heavy. I put pictures of some of my Marilyn Monroe items I own at the end of the post. =D

Without further ado, the pictures.

Disclaimer: the holo is not as apparent IRL. In direct light, you can see it more. These pics are catching the light that is really close to my nails. =]

It was also a bit sheer and thick going on, but I still absolutely LOVE it.

Zoya Demi with Max Factor Fantasy Fire

Thursday, June 28, 2012
Hello! Today I wanted a bit of an 'ego' boost, so I decided to wear Zoya Demi. I love having a gorgeous polish with my name on it (literally). ;)

I then decided to layer Max Factor Fatasy Fire over it. Can you say gorgeous?!

With the next photo, you can see a bit of the green shimmer! It isn't obvious on the nail with this certain combo.

Recycled Mani

Wednesday, June 27, 2012
I didn't want to do my nails again, so I just threw a holo glitter from the Color Club Mistletoe collection over NRFTB.

My family lives in Colorado Springs, so my attention is primarily set on them right now. My thoughts go out to all of those in Colorado battling the wildfires. Stay safe. <3

OPI No Room for the Blues

Tuesday, June 26, 2012
Hello! Today I have OPI No Room for the Blues to show you! I'm a sucker for these sort of blues (Zoya Robyn still takes the gold, though).

I think the color gets the job done! =] I had a few issues with streakiness, but it was probably because I used thick coats. It all leveled out after about three coats, though.

No flash, artificial light.

What do you think? Do you like blue?

*Product was purchased by me, for me. All opinions are my own and honest.*

Monday, June 25, 2012
Hello lovelies. I am sorry I haven't posted here in a week! I have had a crazy schedule and should be getting back to normal. I haven't had time to do my nails so often and I haven't taken quality pics.

So, here are a few things I wore over the past week, in different settings (mostly at work). lol

On Friday, I wore Birthday Bash by 365 Days of Color. I absolutely LOVE it. (I might even go as far as saying that it is a better Jawbreaker)!

On Saturday I wore Zoya Phoebe. No top coat to keep it matte. But that isn't important. Look at the bottle in my hand. Oh yes, mmmhmm. Thanks to Set in Lacquer, Fantasy Fire is off my lemming list! <3

A little peek at what is to come. Also, my go to Starbucks drink is a mocha frappe light. Mmm

xx Demi

New post with better pictures will be up tomorrow.

OPI - Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It

Monday, June 18, 2012
Hello! Today I have Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It from OPI's Minnie Mouse collection. I decided to wear it over Do You Think I'm T-exy. The look is definitely girly and sweet!

I wasn't impressed with NMBI. I had to fish around for the hearts and the polish is a bit goopy once you fish for a bit.

It's definitely gorgeous once on, though! It has that sort of glass shimmer with purple, pink and even a little bit of gold in some light.

I took a quick pic while at work. =]

*I purchased these products for myself with my own money.*

Summer Challenge: Day 17 - Hippie/Retro/Summer of Love

Sunday, June 17, 2012
I decided to go a bit more retro/vintage, rather than hippie/summer of love! The outcome? Cherry nails, inspired by Robin Moses!!!

Her videos and nail art are so freaking amazing. I wish I had as much talent as her. This seemed like one of the 'easier' manicures, so I went for it!

I used Cult Nails Living Water for the base, then an unnamed Color Club pink and Zoya Belle for the ring finger. The cherries are acrylic paint.

Check out Robin's video on the cherries here. Don't forget to follow and/or subscribe if you don't already!

Summer Challenge - Day 16: Ladybirds/Ladybugs

Friday, June 15, 2012
Hello! Since I had on Warrior Ethos, I decided to add on to the gorgeous color to make some ladybugs for the summer challenge! They are so cute.

Hee hee. I took a pic in their "natural" state.

NOTD and a Giveaway?!

Thursday, June 14, 2012
Hello all! I had a pretty rough/busy day yesterday. When I got home I took a little nap and didn't feel up to nail art. I decided to use one of my go-to polishes: Warrior Ethos by Nerd Lacquer. If you look at my labels, you'll see that I wear this a bit too often. I am so sad that Amanda, the owner, is MIA. I'll probably have to sell my soul to get a backup of this color.

As for the giveaway, if you like my Facebook page you might have noticed that I will be having one soon! Once I reach 350 followers on here and 350 likes on FB, I will let my Deborah Lippmann Today Was A Fairytale and Color Club Back To Boho Set B go to new homes! I will also giveaway some brand new and wrapped Cheeky stamping plates!

Summer Challenge - Day 15: Hot Pink (Freestyle)

Wednesday, June 13, 2012
Hello! Today I have some random zig-zag nail art for the Hot Pink day. I used two Color Club pinks from the All About Color set and two stripers from Kiss.

Nail of the Day - Nautical

Monday, June 11, 2012
Hi hi! I am swamped and didn't get a chance to take pics of my mani, so here is a quick vintage-y/ look at what is on my nails today!

I went with a nautical theme. Red and white stripes and an anchor on a deep blue!

Hope you have a great Monday/week!

Neon Tribal Nails

Saturday, June 9, 2012
Happy Saturday! Today I have another first...some tribal-esque nails! I don't know what came over me. I sat down to do another funky french with white and pink, and ended up with this!

I used OPI Alpine Snow for the base, China Glaze Pink Voltage and Zoya Pippa for the triangles. I cheated a little with this mani. I used a Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen for the black details.

Just to prove that I do both hands for my maniicures, here is a pic of both my hands! I had a major nail fatality on my right pinky. =/ It ripped so short that it bled! Gah.
I won't lie. This was slightly difficult for me to accomplish with my non-dominant hand. You can see the shaky lines and dabs of pink here and there.

Annnnd, a close up of the right hand! Sorry for the lobster pic. I was trying to capture Pink Voltage's AMAZING brightness.

I seriously love how bright this mani is. It looks so eye-catching and definitely draws some attention!

Summer Challenge - Hot! Hot! Hot!

Friday, June 8, 2012
Day 12: Hot Hot Hot
Holy moly, people. I have only ever done a water marble on three fingers at the most. I finally finished a whole mani! I really wanted to do flames, but I didn't want to draw Thus, I decided to try my hand at the water marble again.

By NO MEANS is this perfect. While I wanted the flames to all be unique, I still had a few "hiccoughs" in the design. I have to say, my favorite is my thumb!

I used The New Black Runway set for this mani. Goodness, they are perfect for water marbling. I didn't have any issues. The yellow and orange even have a slight shimmer that adds some depth and gorgeous color.

This was also the first time I used Hong Kong Girl's Top Coat. So far, I am very impressed! It dried super quick and very shiny! I can't wait to see the wear time on it.

My favorite!!!

What do you think? I know it isn't the best, but I absolutely love it! I definitely think it is hot! hot! hot!

You can find The New Black at Sephora (online and in store). The ombre sets sell for $22, the Runway kit is $32, the glitter duos are $10 and the typography set is $16.

Check them out on these social media sites:

Funky French

Thursday, June 7, 2012
I haven't posted a funky french on the blog. My nails are never the right shape or length for fresh manicures. Let me tell you, I LOOOVE all of the different things you can do with a french.

I used two coats of Zoya Dove, one coat of Zoya Robyn and two coats of Jawbreaker.

I just love the colors together. To find out how I did this, check out Chalkboard Nails' latest tutorial. I didn't do mine as big, because I wanted the funky "french" look.

Tissue Nail Art Tutorial

Wednesday, June 6, 2012
Hello everyone! Today I have something new for you!

Monday's mani was a hit and one of my readers asked if I would elaborate on how to create the look. I thought about it and decided to do my first video tutorial. It isn't great (I had to hold the camera in my left hand the whole time) and the quality is poor, but I think I will do more in the future.

So, without further ado: Tissue Nail Art Tutorial

First, start off with a base color of choice and let that dry COMPLETELY. I forgot to mention that in the video.

Once you are done, use a topcoat. Voila!

What did you think of the video? I'm sorry if I sounded horrible or if the quality is poor. Would you like to see more in the future?

Edit* I am using this mani for my entry into the The Crumpet's nail art challenge! It is a biiiiig one called the Summer Challenge. Check it out!

Splatter Nails Without the Splatter

Monday, June 4, 2012
Weird title, right? Today I have a mani that looks similar to a splatter mani. However, I used tissue to create the look. =]

I started with Sinful Colors Cinderella (which you can't really see in the pics). Then I used China Glaze Pink Voltage and Zoya Pippa.

Here is a bright pic to show some of the blue.

Shade, artificial light. The blue is there!!!

What do you think? Does it look like splatter to you? Maybe water color?
